Turret, 2019

Turret is a solo exhibition featuring augmented reality experiences and animations at R.I.C.A., Renann Isaacs Contemporary Art in Guelph, Ontario (August 2019). Amongst the recent works included are Norton’s experimentations using a 3D scan of her child, Edie Soleil, within animated environments of architectures and structures. Playfully drawing upon the impossible geometries and perspectives of Escher, as well as the 1941 short science fiction story “-And They Build a Crooked House-” by Robert A. Heinlein, the animated figure moves within a frozen moment in time, navigating a forever now. The augmented reality app is activated by scanning symbols placed about the gallery.
